Sport Information

Wairoa College provides opportunities for all students to participate in sport and outdoor education, regardless of their abilities or experience.  Teams are coached and managed by dedicated staff, parents and members of the community. 

We are focused on increasing and improving sporting opportunities through partnership with community clubs and sports organisations.  Successful competitors have the opportunity to achieve in both Regional and National Levels New Zealand wide. 

Our aim is for students of all ages and abilities to get involved in being active as it provides fitness, social opportunities, experience in working as part of a team, and enhances their learning. 

There are multiple opportunities for students to participate in sporting activities such as:

  • Inter-whanau and inter-house sports competitions

  • School Athletics, Cross County and Swimming Sports Events

  • Joining social and competitive teams - Badminton, Basketball, Clay Bird Shooting, Chess, Equestrian, Golf, Hockey, Ki O Rahi, Netball, Rugby, Soccer, Shearing, Swimming, Waka Ama, Touch Rugby, Volleyball.

  • Lunch time activities and development programmes.

If you would like to see something new please come see Shaz in the Sports Office, we currently are working on introducing a few more codes next year these include squash, tennis, softball and more, keep an eye out!
